Hello and Welcome to Region 14. My name is Michael Matteo and I have been a member of UFDC for over 30 years. I am currently a member of the Staten Island Doll Club. This is my second time serving as your Reginal Director as I served previously 20 years ago (2006 - 2009). We have a great region with many active doll clubs and events.

Born and raised in Staten Island NY I am at the southernmost part of our Region.

I work for a large 401(k) Service Provider and have over 30 years in the Retirement Industry. I have a twin brother and a younger sister. I take care of my 87 year Mom and a Pug puppy.

I started collecting in 1989 when by chance I was working for Walt Disney World in Florida for the very first World Showcase of Dolls later to become their Annual Teddy Bear and Doll Convention. There I met talented California doll artist Wendy Lawton and I was instantly hooked. Wendy and I became fast friends, and I started collecting her dolls with a vengeance. I was drawn to their beauty and the wonderful stories Wendy wove around them. Through Wendy I was able to attend Toy Fair and travel around the county to various Doll Shows and meet the incredible doll artists of the time. My collection expanded from just Lawtons to include R. John Wright, Robert Tonner, vintage Madame Alexanders, Connie Lowe, and various Artist Dolls and some Antiques along the way.

I had the pleasure of attending many National and Regional Conventions. I Chaired many Lawton events during the years and am always up to be a table host when needed.

It's exciting to be on the Board during a time when we are focusing on gaining more members and insuring the future of our great organization.

I look forward to visiting clubs and meeting our members as well as encouraging more individuals to join or organization.
